# AI in Board Management: How Governance Platforms Are Evolving — and the APAC Governance Gap

Diligent Institute's latest analysis (drawing on the 2026 What Directors Think survey and the 2026 APAC Governance Outlook) reveals that 66% of directors globally now use AI for board work, yet only 22% have formal AI governance processes in place for that usage — a gap that is especially acute in Asia-Pacific, where many organisations have deployed AI but few have audited its use. The piece argues boards must inventory AI use in board workflows, assign clear ownership of AI-generated outputs, and build real-time dashboards to replace periodic reporting. For SEA boards, this is a direct call to close the deployment-audit gap before regulators in Singapore and Australia do it for them.
