# Board Decision-Making Under Pressure as AI Forces Leaders into Higher-Stakes Choices

Board Intelligence's Summer 2026 Board Value Index — drawing on 400+ NEDs, CEOs, and CFOs including from the Middle East — found that 86% of directors say overly rigid or inconsistent decision-making frameworks have contributed to delayed, rushed, or poor decisions in the past six months. The research highlights that while boards recognise AI and technological disruption will fundamentally reshape their organisations, most have failed to transform how the board itself makes decisions.
