# Six strategies for making better decisions under pressure

IMD (Jan 16, 2025) "Six strategies for making better decisions under pressure" explores six concrete moves leaders can deploy: managing emotional responses; strengthening situational awareness; training for cognitive agility; using structured decision-making models; enhancing decision speed; and practising under pressure to build robust performance. The piece argues effective decision-making under pressure integrates emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility and structured process — helping leaders assess high-stakes situations quickly, make sound judgments with confidence, and maintain team effectiveness under volatile and uncertain conditions. Useful skills frame for SEA mid-market boards coaching CEO direct reports and committee chairs.
