# The Agentic Organization: Contours of the Next Paradigm for the AI Era

McKinsey "The agentic organization: Contours of the next paradigm for the AI era" by Alexander Sukharevsky, Alexis Krivkovich, Arne Gast and others frames AI as the largest organisational paradigm shift since the industrial and digital revolutions, uniting humans and virtual or physical AI agents at near-zero marginal cost. The agentic organisation is built on five pillars: business model; operating model; governance; workforce, people and culture; and technology and data. The authors note the length of tasks AI can reliably complete has doubled every seven months since 2019 and every four months since 2024 — roughly two hours as of writing — projecting AI could complete four days of unsupervised work by 2027.
