    Board Performance Evaluation Guideline

Copyright held by the Institute of Directors South Africa on behalf of GNDI and its member institutes, dated 2024 with no month printed, hosted free by the Singapore Institute of Directors. It names eight factors affecting board effectiveness including board culture, defined as ensuring the boardroom is conducive to robust discussion where each member can participate equally, and states as a con of internal evaluation that "Internal facilitators may be less objective, as they may be hesitant to provide negative feedback to their colleagues" and that certain areas may be overlooked because members "might not want to delve into areas of concern". It sets a working standard that an assessment should probe at least the previous year's performance or the performance of at least the last four board meetings, and carries a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction table across roughly 38 markets showing that Singapore requires evaluation only "Regularly" and by "Either" method while Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam require it annually and by both.
