Malaysia SC Proposes First Board Oversight Rules for AI at Listed Companies
The Securities Commission Malaysia opened a public consultation that would, for the first time, set explicit board oversight expectations for technology and AI at public listed companies, including disclosures on how AI is used and governed. Comments are due by 31 July 2026, and while not yet binding, it signals directors should start inventorying material AI systems and naming a board-level owner. This is a direct, actionable governance-execution signal for SEA boards preparing disclosure frameworks.
