OJK Advances Global Internal Audit Standards Adoption Through GRC Forum on Board and Senior Management Governance

Indonesia's OJK convened a Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Forum on May 13, 2026, to align domestic financial institutions with the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS/IPPF 2024), addressing redefined roles for the Board, senior management, and Chief Audit Executive in internal governance oversight. The forum covered critical changes to internal audit charters, Board and management accountability structures, and audit strategy—areas directly relevant to how boards in Indonesia and the broader SEA region should reconfigure their oversight operating models. For SEA mid-market CEOs, this is a regulatory signal that internal audit is being repositioned as a strategic board-level governance instrument, not merely a compliance function, requiring boards to actively redesign their CEO and management accountability frameworks.
