Sustainability Shakes Up the Boardroom

Boston Consulting Group, INSEAD and Heidrick & Struggles joint global research "Sustainability Shakes Up the Boardroom" (published Jul 10, 2023) surveyed 879 directors across more than 45 countries and 19 industries. Key gap statistics: 66% of respondents say sustainability considerations should be fully integrated into business strategy, but just 38% say that is the case today; roughly half say sustainability should be entirely integrated into the board agenda and investment decisions, while fewer than 30% report it is happening. The piece urges boards to challenge management to set a strategic sustainability ambition and to assess scarcity exposure for critical inputs.
