Two-Thirds of General Counsels Report Rising Risk and Compliance Workloads

Diligent Institute's GC Risk Index, unveiled at Elevate 2026, finds 67% of general counsels spending more time on enterprise risk and compliance, yet only 19% say their GRC systems are fully integrated and nearly half report AI's efficiency impact has not fully materialized. For boards, the data makes the case that decision-ready oversight requires integrated risk data, clearly defined accountability across functions, and governance-grade tooling rather than fragmented systems.
